Retirement Management Services
Through our annual “Retirement Plan” reviews, we cover the topics that research shows you should be covering in retirement. As things change, your plans get updated, markets rise and fall, children and grandchildren’s needs change (we know that “you come first” of course), unexpected expenses crop up, and that you will want to have a financial adviser at your side.
Large institutions (JP Morgan and Vanguard to name two) have done extensive research on actions you can take each year that could potentially increase your chances of success significantly. We know what they are, and we coach you to get them done. We cover a few of these items during your initial “Retirement Checklist Consultation.” That free consultation is time well spent.
Retirement Investment Management
Potentially the greatest value we can offer is our Retirement Investment Management services. There simply needs to be a change in how you manage your assets when you retire. I’ve said many times that “I don’t believe the investment strategies that got you to retirement, will get you through retirement.” There is a major challenge in retirement: You need current income, but you also need long-term growth as retirements are not 10 or 15 years in length anymore. Retirement can last 20 and 25 years potentially.
After a lot of research over my 20 years in the business and exploring what might be most suitable for clients, we have a strategy we employ that we believe balances the need for current income, while still maintaining a clear potential for long-term growth. While no strategy is full-proof and certainly provides no guarantees, we believe our strategy does a good job of balancing risks and rewards over time. Our strategy takes into consideration market downturns, and plans for them as best we can. It takes into consideration that you aren’t 25 years old anymore and need some stability in your financial life. We work to keep your investment expenses low and employ strategies that other firms’ research indicates might improve your chances for a successful retirement.
This all starts with our “Retirement Checklist Consultation” to see what your needs are—to see what you have already taken good care of, and what still needs attention.
